When the Care Quality Commission visited Voyage 1 Ltd 1-1a Christchurch Gardens during an unannounced on 19 June 2013 we found that the service was failing to meet the national standards that people should be able to expect.

As a result, CQC has issued formal warnings to Voyage 1 Ltd telling them that they must improve in the following areas by 2 August 2013.

  • Regulation 23 (Outcome 14) relating to supporting workers

Staff did not always receive the right training and professional development. There was a risk people who use the service could have received inappropriate or unsafe care. There were no spot checks by management in place to check the quality and safety of care delivered by night care staff who worked alone in two separate houses where the service was provided from.

  • Regulation 11 (Outcome 7) relating to safeguarding people from abuse

The service failed to respond appropriately to incidents of abuse. They did not take reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent it before it occurred.

CQC inspectors will return unannounced in due course to check whether the required improvements have been made. For more details of the findings from the inspection in June 2013 read the full report here.
