Mark took up the position of non-executive director of the Care Quality Commission in January 2021.

Mark is a lawyer whose senior executive career included the general counsel positions at RSA Insurance Group and Worldpay Group, as well as senior roles at HSBC, American Express and GE Capital.

Mark is an experienced charity trustee and is on the board of Maggie's. He is a former Chair of Amref Health Africa and prior to that was a trustee of WWF, where he chaired the Audit Committee. He is also a former Associate Director of the Institute of Business Ethics.

Mark is the Senior Independent Director and chairs the Regulatory Governance Committee of CQC.
