Brief description

St Anne's Community Services South Tyneside is a domiciliary care service based on the Tedco Industrial Estate in Jarrow. This service supports people with learning disabilities to live in their own homes with their own tenancies, in the South Shields and Jarrow areas. This includes people of various ages and with a diverse range of needs, however it does not include children.

 
The service is one of two domiciliary care services run by St Anne's Community Services in the area. A second service that is registered and managed separately shares the same building but a different office and supports people living in the Sunderland area.
 
The accommodation for this service includes one office but has access to other rooms including a kitchen and toilet. It is on one floor and is accessed by a security video entrance system.

There is also an alarm system fitted for when the building is closed, during which time there are security guards on duty. The office has adequate equipment needed for the efficient and effective management of the service and the environment meets the required health and safety requirements. The building is accessible to service users by public transport.

There is a 24 hour call system for emergencies. The majority of the service's work is referred from Social Services whose commissioning departments monitor the service.
 
The service aims to inform prospective and current service users about the services provided and does this in a Service User Guide that is issued to all service users.
