Brief description

St Anne's Community Carers Scheme is one of a range of services provided by St Anne's Community Services that is a registered charity. The Scheme was set up in 1992 to provide long-term care for adults over eighteen years old. The idea of the Scheme is to provide good quality family based care to people with learning disabilities who need support but do not want residential care.

The Scheme's office is situated within the St Anne's headquarters in the University area of Leeds. There are training and meeting rooms available. The Scheme is managed by Mr Martin Ewing who is currently the Chairperson of NAAPS (The National Association of Adult Placement Services).

He is supported by three project workers, two of whom are part time and an administrator. This is an experienced, well qualified team who have worked together for a sustained period. The team recruit and train carers who can offer accommodation in their homes in an ordinary community setting and match these to people needing the service.

They aim to provide high quality support to carers and promote valued lifestyles for users of the service. Following initial recruitment and selection of carers, regular support and monitoring visits by project workers make sure that good standards of housing, personal and health care are provided, and that people using the service have a range of opportunities for social relationships, education and training, leisure and employment.

This brief description is an overview of the service and may have been updated since the latest inspection report was published.
