Brief description

The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home offers specialist palliative nursing care, support and advice to people suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses within his or her own home twenty-four hours a day throughout the year. The service is provided at no cost to individuals. Its aim is to help the relatives and carers of the people using the service during the illness and bereavement period.

 
The organisation is a registered charity and is presently registered as a Nursing Agency. There are four nursing teams caring for adults and one team caring for children. The nurses provide nursing care, advice and respite sits if required.

They work closely with general practitioners and the district nursing services
to access additional care if required and arrange for the provision of any equipment that may be needed.
 
Complimentary therapies such as aromatherapy or reflexology are also provided if needed. During office hours the nurses can be contacted via the organisation's offices, which are based in Tring and Chalfont St.

Giles. Out of office hours, evenings, weekends and bank holiday calls are handled by the answering service who will contact the nurses on call.
 
The organisation employs over five hundred volunteers whose contribution is essential to the work of the agency.

There are a wide range of activities that volunteers get involved with, including home and bereavement support, driving, reception, administration, finance, managing the charity shops and fundraising activities.
