Brief description
Hetton Home Care Services is a domiciliary agency that provides personal care for people in their own homes. The agency cannot provide nursing care.
The agency is a Registered Charity, run by a group of voluntary trustees who operate the service for the benefit of the people of Hetton village and surrounding areas.
The agency's office base is situated at the Hetton Centre (a purpose- built community facility) alongside other local community services, such as library and housing services.
Senior staff and managers are based at the offices during weekdays and there are arrangements for service users and staff to get telephone advice or support from agency managers at any time, seven days per week.
Currently the agency meets the needs of around 200 service users. It can provide personal care for:
- People who are older
- People with sensory disability
- People with learning disabilities
- Children and their families
- People with physical disabilities
For many service users Hetton Home Care Services provides their care service on behalf of the City of Sunderland Social Services Department.
A smaller number of people purchase their care privately.
Hetton Home Care Services charges are 11.10 pounds per hour (6.66 pounds per half an hour). The amount that service users contribute depends on an assessment of their finances by the local authority.
