Brief description

Up to 63 people who have difficulties with parts of their comprehension can make their home in The New Close (the Service). The premises are purpose built with all of the accommodation being on the ground floor. The accommodation is divided into two self contained suites.

These are called Bluebell and Primrose. Each of these has a main lounge, a suite of bedrooms and other rooms such as bathrooms and toilets. The lounges have a kitchenette facility so that care workers can prepare drinks and light snacks.

There are other lounges that are not part of the suites. They can be used by any of the people who live in the Service. The main meals are prepared in a central kitchen.

 
There are four bedrooms that can be shared by two people each, the rest of the bedrooms are singles. The bedrooms are laid out as bed sitting areas. All of the bedrooms have a private wash hand basin.

Five bedrooms also have a private shower and 23 bedrooms have their own toilet. All of the bedrooms have a television point. People can pay to have their own telephone installed.
 
There is a call bell system.

This has call points in each of the bedrooms and in the bathrooms and toilets.
 
There are an adequate number of bathrooms and toilets. There is equipment such as hoists to help people who have reduced mobility.

 
The building is located in a quiet residential street in the village of Bridge. There is some off street parking. There is a bus stop nearby and there is a small village general store.

The nearest mainline railway station is in Canterbury about five miles away.
 
There is a level garden where there are seats.
 
The Registered Provider is a private company.
 
The weekly fee for living in the Service runs from £546.00 to £598.00.
