Brief description
Hargrave House provides accommodation and care for a maximum of fifty-eight older people. This includes seven older persons with dementia and one named person under sixty-five years with a physical disability. In general the home caters for the more able service user.
Nursing care is not offered at this home. Hargrave House was originally built in 1777. A new wing was built in 1995, when it was converted into a residential care home.
The home was closed for a short time in 2000 and 2001 and reopened under new ownership in March 2001. The present proprietors are Scimitar Care Hotels PLC. The home has fifty single rooms and four double rooms, each with en-suite facilities, or own bathroom near by.
Three of the upper rooms now open on to a balcony. The home is divided into two distinct units, the Hargrave Wing and the Alice Grace Wing. There is a choice of lounges, including a television lounge and a quiet lounge.
A games room and a listed Victorian conservatory are currently unavailable to service users. The grounds of the home are well maintained. The home is close to the amenities of the village of Stansted Mountfitchet.
