Update to fees 2012-13 consultation

We stopped collecting responses for this consultation on 20 February 2012. We will publish our results shortly.

We ran a consultation on the fees we propose to charge Primary Trust (PCT) providers, the Health Protection Agency (HPA), NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and NHS Direct (NHSD) from 1 April 2012.

We carried out this consultation because two issues emerged that affect the fees for this small group of providers.

Most PCTs transferred their services to other providers under the Transforming Community Services initiative and are now no longer providers of regulated activities. However, some PCTs are still required to be registered with CQC as they are continuing to provide a small range of services. The proposals in the consultation ensure the fees charged to these PCTs are proportionate to the reduced services they now deliver, and the costs of their regulation.

Secondly, the changes we made in how we charge fees for NHS trusts have significantly, and unfairly, increased the fees of the HPA, NHSBT and NHSD. Our proposal ensures that these providers also pay a fee that reflects the nature of the services they provide and the associated costs of regulation.

We carried out a short consultation period as the proposals affect a very small number of providers.

This consultation closed on Monday 20 February 2012.
