Stakeholder committee

The committee is the statutory body (required by the Health and Social Care Act) offering strategy and policy advice to CQC’s board. It is a formal part of CQC’s governance structure, managed by the Public Affairs team and Secretariat. Agenda items will often be prompted by board, executive team, or by committee members themselves.

It is a single committee, meeting twice yearly, timed around board meetings to allow the board to ask committee for advice on specific topics. The committee can set up task and finish groups to carry out more in-depth analysis on specific matters of strategy or policy.

The committee is made up of around 20 invited representative bodies (umbrella organisations where appropriate) representing the user voice, care providers, campaign groups and policy shapers in all CQC-regulated sectors, and care professionals.
