We are publishing our report on the state of hospice services in England today.

Hospices care for people with terminal and life-limiting conditions and their families, as well as offering bereavement support.

Our report presents findings from our programme of comprehensive inspections between 2014 and 2017.

Hospice care across England has the highest percentage of health and social care services that are rated outstanding (25%), and a further 70% are rated good. There was a strong commitment to providing person-centred, compassionate care and support to people using hospice services, and their loved ones.

With its holistic, highly caring approach, hospice care can be transformative for dying people and their families.
