During an inspection in response to concerns

This Inspection was in response to a safeguarding alert received by a Local Authority Adult Care Services in April 2013. Whilst the alert did not relate to this particular location, we wanted to check that the issues identified were not experienced at this location. A Safeguarding alert is where one or more person's health, wellbeing or human rights may not have been properly protected and they may have suffered harm, abuse or neglect. The overall review of this matter is not yet concluded.

People were provided with care plans which were reviewed regularly and updated when required. People said they felt safe living in the home and were able to discuss concerns or issues with the staff if they wished to. Risk assessments were reviewed regularly so that people and staff were safe.

People using the service told us the staff treated them respectfully and that they had sufficient choices in their routines. One person said, "I get on OK with the staff" and "My case manager is great". Another person told us about the choices they had in the food served and the activities they did each day including, "I go to college and do presentations to psychologists".

Staff received training and supervision to enable them to carry out their roles effectively and care for the people they supported.
