All Inspections

17 January 2014

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This inspection was a follow up inspection to check that improvements had been made in the knowledge of staff in regard to safeguarding people who use services from abuse and the implementation of a recruitment policy/procedure that met the Commission's regulations. This was because the provider was non-compliant following our last inspection on 24 September 2013 in these areas and compliance actions were issued.

This service was a small service delivered by two staff. The registered person was the person carrying out the scans and the other member of staff assisted them in the provision of the service.

Policies and procedures for safeguarding people who used the service from abuse were in place and staff had received appropriate training. This meant staff had sufficient knowledge to ensure that people were safeguarded against the risk of abuse.

A recruitment procedure was in place to ensure that potential employees would be employed with all the proper checks being in place.

24 September 2013

During a routine inspection

This service is a small service where the registered person is the person carrying out the scans and another member of staff to assist them in the provision of the service employed.

People using the service were treated with respect, made decisions about the type of screening service they required to meet their needs and were encouraged to provide feedback about their experience of the service.

A testimonial by one person using the service received was, 'We would just like to say how very grateful we are for all you did for us during and directly after our appointment with you. On the day we found out something we were not expecting in our wildest dreams, but the way you handled the whole distressing situation calmly and professionally and going over and above the service you provide, especially getting us straight into hospital the same afternoon, is something we will never forget. We cannot thank you enough for discovering [the babies] condition as you were the first in a long line of people who helped save the life of our beautiful and precious little boy.'

Policies and procedures for safeguarding people who used the service from abuse were not in place and staff had not received any training in the subject area. This meant suitable arrangements were not in place to ensure that people were safeguarded against the risk of abuse.

A recruitment procedure was not in place to ensure that potential employee would be employed with all the proper checks being in place.
