Our current view of the service

Honeywood House Nursing home is a nursing home providing personal and nursing care for up to 25 people. At the time of our assessment there were 23 people using the service, this included people living with dementia and age related frailties.
We carried out our on-site assessment on 8 March 2024, off site assessment activity started on 11 March 2024 and ended on 13 March 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements, Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes.
People's experience of the service

People were involved with planning their day to day care; when supporting people, staff checked with them to ensure they were happy. One person told us, “I can’t get out bed at all, they help me with bed baths. I am happy with the way they communicate with me. I have this special mattress with the air, they check it. It seems ok to me.”
People spoke highly of the support they received and told us there were enough staff to support them. Comments included, “I think there are enough staff, when I call my bell they come quickly.” Our observations confirmed this.
Staff understood their duty to respond to, and report safeguarding concerns. People told us they felt safe, a person said, “I like it here, it’s alright. I am safe, everything makes me feel safe, it's just a feeling.”
People were engaged, stimulated, and they had opportunities to partake in group or individual activities. Visiting hours were open to suit people; we saw friends and family visiting in the service and going out with their loved ones. The service had an onsite charity shop and card shop to enable people to buy themselves items or gifts for loved ones, this promoted their independence and autonomy.
