During a routine inspection

When we visited Epilight Clinic we saw that the information packs for the services provided were detailed and provided appropriate information so that people could understand and make choices about the treatment offered.

We spoke with nine people who used the service and they told us they were treated with the upmost respect. Comments included; "we are made welcome and staff make me feel at ease"; "staff explain all the processes and I have been most impressed by the care and attention I have received."

People said they had researched various skin clinics and felt that Epilight were very ethical in their practices and provided safe effective personalised treatment.

The general environment and the consulting and treatment rooms were clean, well equipped and maintained in a good physical condition. People told us that the premises were delightful and there was an atmosphere of calm and comfort.

Staff told us they felt well supported and had all the training and information they needed for their roles. They said that staff turnover was very low and as a consequence there was a stable staff team who all worked well together.

There were clear quality monitoring systems in place. These included direct discussion before and after each treatment and the use of questionnaires. Feedback from questionnaires included: "A wonderful relaxing place. Excellent service" and "I am impressed by the care and attention and always get good results."

During a routine inspection

During our visit we found that people were treated respectfully and were very happy with the care and treatment they received. We spoke with two people during our visit who commented:

'The staff make you feel relaxed and comfortable".

'They are all very professional and the care couldn't be better'.

We saw evidence that the treatment records were sufficiently detailed and contained enough information for people to be treated safely and effectively. The records were kept securely and could be located promptly when needed.

People who accessed the service were treated in a clean, pleasant and well furnished environment that was safe and suitable for their needs. They were treated by staff who were appropriated recruited, well trained and experienced at supporting them.

During a routine inspection

On the day of our visit we spoke with several patients who all said they were very happy with the treatment they had received and would recommend the clinic. One person told us 'I was so impressed with the service I have just booked extra treatment sessions.'

Patients told us they were told what to expect in terms of their treatment and that the staff explained anything if they wanted to ask questions. One person told us 'I have been looked after very well by staff who explained everything.'

The patients we spoke with told us they had never had any reason to complain about anything but were confident that if they had any concerns the staff were very professional and would address the situation as soon as possible. Patients told us they never felt as if they were put under any pressure to have any treatments done.
