All Inspections

19 February 2014

During a routine inspection

During our visit we met and spoke with eight people who used the service and asked them about the service they received. We also spoke with the operational director, registered manager and five care staff.

Our observations of staff practice showed that people were receiving effective, safe and appropriate care, which was designed to meet their specific needs. We saw that people felt comfortable in approaching staff and asking for assistance. People were relaxed and content in their surroundings. Staff engaged positively with people using the service to encourage them to communicate their consent, wishes and choices.

People who used the service told us they were happy with the care and support they received. One person told us, 'Staff are courteous and very helpful and I give them all a good name.'.' Another person said, "The food is very nice and staff support me, I like it here everybody is friendly.'

We spoke with some relatives of people who used the service on the day of our inspection. One relative said "I couldn't ask for better, they are wonderful". Another person told us 'My relative is very comfortable here.'They told us that they would feel confident to raise a complaint should they need to do so.

Staff told us that they had received regular training and that they felt confident to carry out their roles and meet the needs of people using the service.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

26 March 2013

During a routine inspection

This inspection was undertaken to look at 3 outcome areas. This was to support the previous inspection report that was published in May 2012 where less than 5 outcomes (2) were looked at.

People told us that there were enough staff and they were nice and treated them well.

Two people who wanted to speak to us together told us that they had no complaints and felt the staff would be approachable if they did. They felt safe at the home. They said the staff were lovely, there were enough staff and they were always nice and willing to help when they needed support.

One person told us he had no complaints but would make one if he did. He said that the staff were good and there were enough of them but sometimes they take a while to settle in.

One person and their relative told us they could raise any concerns they had, felt safe at the home, there were enough staff so as not to have to wait for support and the staff were caring and looked after them well.

30 April 2012

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke with people using the services but their feedback did not relate specifically to the standards we looked at. However, we observed that people were relaxed, comfortable and content in their surroundings and there were sufficient staff on duty to meet their needs. Some people using services were leaving for a day out upon our arrival and were being supported by staff accompanying them to find seats and make themselves comfortable in the home's transport.

30 June 2011

During a routine inspection

People who were able to speak with us said they were treated with kindness and respect by the staff and were involved in the way their care was organised. Carers of people using the service spoke of their satisfaction with the services offered and confirmed their involvement in deciding if the home could meet their relative's needs. Some carers spoke about attending reviews of their relatives care plan, where they were asked if they were satisfied or if they felt any changes needed to happen. People using the service said they felt safe and secure. Carers said they had never seen any practices in the home that had concerned them and they were confident that the manager would investigate any issues or concerns that were brought to her attention. There was some very positive praise received for the new manager from people using the service, staff and tcarers. One person said, 'Best one yet!'

People using the service reported that they were generally very happy with their bedrooms and thought the communal areas of the home met their needs. One person said the home could do with a bit of a freshen up in some areas.
