First aid
26 October 2009
Find out how to offer the right level of first aid for people who live in care homes when they are mostly likely to need it.
The national minimum standards require first aiders to be available at all times. But instead we allow you to be flexible by tailoring the aid to the needs of the people who use your service. You need to carry out a risk assessment which includes:
- the needs of people who use your service
- how likely, it is that first aid will be needed
- what kind of first aid will be required
If you do not carry out a risk assessment, you will need to provide first aid all at times from staff with suitable first aid qualifications.
