The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wilts in Corsham, Wiltshire, to be Outstanding following an inspection in December 2016.

Inspectors rated Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wilts Outstanding for being responsive to people’s needs and well-led, and Good for being safe, effective and caring.

Debbie Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care (South), said:

“Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wilts supported people with exceptional care and in innovative ways.

“We were delighted to see how well the service supported people’s social needs to make sure people felt less isolated. The service held social events and celebrations at its office, people enjoyed these events and they helped people feel more valued.

“It was encouraging to see how the management looked for proactive ways to improve the home and services by involving people using the service and their relatives to provide suggestions for improvements, that the service then acted upon.

“The team should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate the staff at Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wilts for achieving our highest rating.”

The knowledgeable and kind staff were recruited according to their experience in the care industry as well as their caring approach. People were also able to be matched to staff according to their personality types, needs, wishes and interests.

Families and people were actively involved in decisions about people’s care, their care packages and types of support they would like to receive. The service and staff knew each person well and demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness to people’s requests.

The agency worked in innovative and collaborative ways with other agencies and the local community to meet people’s needs. Partnerships with the police and fire service supported people’s safety and provided staff with fire safety training. Home Instead Senior Care’s senior fraud programme also helped protect people in the service and people appreciated the extra support and care.
