The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Welmede Housing Association in Chertsey, Surrey, to be Outstanding following an inspection in January 2016.

Inspectors rated Welmede Housing Association Outstanding in all five domains, safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well-led.

Debbie Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care (South), said:

“We were really impressed by the remarkable level of care and support people received by Welmede Housing Association while living in their own homes.

“We were delighted to see how the service excelled in every aspect of care. The provider was passionate and innovative in making sure people were safe while maintaining their independence. This helped people to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

“It was encouraging to see how well staff knew people’s needs and were able to make people feel happy and comfortable, providing a supportive and caring atmosphere.

“People benefitted from a service that had a strong, visible, person-centred culture where they were encouraged to express their views and be involved in decisions about their care. Personalised care records reflected people’s care and support needs and included likes, interests and background.

“People’s well-being was enhanced through maintaining links with the local community as well as being supported by staff to participate in activities, hobbies and work placements. People were also supported to maintain and develop relationships that were important to them.

“The team should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate the staff at Welmede Housing Association for achieving our highest rating.”
