A west London care home has been rated Outstanding overall by the Care Quality Commission, after an unannounced inspection in June.
School House in Sunbury-On-Thames, was rated Outstanding for being Caring, Responsive and Well-led. It was rated Good for being Safe and Effective.
London Care Partnership provides care and accommodation for up to 10 people with learning disabilities. At the time of the inspection the home was fully occupied
The service aims to follow evidence-based best practice in the care of people with autism, having achieved recognition from the National Autistic Society (NAS) for creating an autism friendly environment,
Inspectors found that the organisation was committed to continuous improvement. A quality action group was created to promote good practice. The service was committed to providing effective support, which was person-centred and rooted in an appreciation of current knowledge and understanding of autism.
Debbie Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector, Adult Social Care, said: “Throughout this inspection we saw outstanding examples of person-centred care, which were informed by current knowledge and understanding of autism.
“Staff understood how to support people with dignity. People were cared for and dressed appropriately and according to their wishes. Staff spoke with people in a respectful way, giving people time to understand and respond.
"Everyone we spoke to on this inspection – the people who lived at School House, their relatives and healthcare professionals had a positive view of the this service and the people who work there. I congratulate them all on this Outstanding rating.
“The service was led with strong values and a vision to involve people as much as possible and continually improve people’s experience.”
