The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Saxlingham Hall Nursing Home in Saxlingham Nethergate, Norwich, to be Outstanding overall following an inspection carried out in November.
Saxlingham Hall Nursing Home provides accommodation and nursing and personal care for up to 41 older people.
Inspectors found staff were caring and compassionate and people were being provided with safe, responsive, caring, effective and well-led care. A full report of the inspection has been published on this website.
Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Saxlingham Hall Nursing Home was rated Outstanding overall, Outstanding for being responsive and well-led and Good for being caring, safe and effective.
Jemima Burnage, CQC’s Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the central region said:
“Our inspection team were impressed by the level of care and support observed at Saxlingham Hall Nursing Home.
“People received person centred care from staff who promoted their needs in an individualised way.
“People were able to maintain hobbies and interests that they enjoyed prior to moving to the home. One person and their relative told us about how important it was to them that they had access to a garden as gardening had always been the person's passion.
“Without exception, all relatives were wholly complimentary about the responsiveness of the registered manager and staff team.
“One relative we spoke with in praise of the home and staff, told us: “It's the
attention to detail that makes it stand out. My relative is always supported to be smart. Their bed is made beautifully every day and everything is so homely. There is nowhere else like this or up to this standard. When my time comes to need care, I wish I could come here”.
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated Outstanding.”

“The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.
“An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
