We asked you to comment on our plans for market oversight of adult social care.

What is market oversight?

Market oversight will be a new regulatory duty for CQC from 6 April 2015. This means that we will oversee and monitor the financial health of difficult-to-replace providers of adult social care services in England.

How did you develop this draft guidance?

  • We worked in close collaboration with a number of providers, members of the public, people who use services, commissioners, lenders, other regulators and a range of stakeholders through a series of workshops last year, to develop both the market oversight model, and our approach.
