Social care inspections
People who use social care services are fully involved in our inspections. Our inspectors make sure they talk to the people at the service to find out what they think about their care.
People who use services can talk to an inspector:
- in a group setting over lunch;
- one to one;
- over the telephone if they use a home care service.
This is a good time for people who use the service to tell the inspector:
- what kind of service they are getting;
- how good or bad the service is.
Our inspectors also talk to friends and family members when they are visiting or over the telephone. This is important, especially if people have complex needs and need someone to speak up for them.
People who use services and carers can also tell us about their experiences by:
- filling in a survey;
- attending a focus group;
- contacting us at anytime.
Making sure people who use services are involved and listened to by the staff is also something we check on as part of the inspection.
Experts by experience
Many of our social care and council inspections we don't do on our own. We take an expert by experience with us.
